Abstract | In this paper, a theoretical simulation model of bifacial Si solar cell using personal computer one dimensional (PC1D) program is reported. The impact of electrical and optical parameters on the device performance is thoroughly investigated. Emitter doping, bulk resistivity, back surface field (BSF) and antireflection coating (ARC) layers on front and rear of the cell were fine tuned to obtain efficiency closed to the theoretical limit of Si material. A front efficiency of 23.6% compared to 22.3% from the rear was achieved. Thus, an excellent bifaciality factor of 94.5% was obtained. However, given the transparency of the rear of a bifacial cell a 20-30% more power due to albedo is possible. In this work, a 6.0 Watt was demonstrated with 0.3 suns from the rear in addition to the 1 sun from front side. |

It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
