Abstract | The method of extracting the flutter derivatives with the free vibration method of section model is simple in device and easy to implement, but in tests we found that the results are not perfect. One reason is that the model may be affected by the vortex and that at high wind speed, the signal is badly disrupted and SNR is low. Another reason is that the different forms of exciting vibration will bring the results with poor repeatability. Forced vibration method has been considered to be the most accurate method for the extraction of flutter derivatives, but because of its requirement for more complex devices, research and implementation of this method are less. In this paper, one experimental test with the forced vibration method for two kinds of bridge decks shows that the effect is good. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
