Description | The successful selection or prioritization of Information System (IS) projects is critical for organizations in the current competitive environment. Moreover, the inadequacy of traditional quantitative cost-benefit analysis for evaluating IS projects has led researchers to propose other models, most of which are based on a multicriteria method. Indeed, the IS project prioritization problem has a multidimensional nature and the use of multicriteria decision aiding (MCDA) methods is a clever way to solve this problem. This paper proposes a model for prioritizing IS projects which makes use of the ELECTRE IV multicriteria method so as to rank stakeholders' preferences regarding IS projects, and of the Copeland's method, to aggregate these preferences into a single structure that represents the decision of the group of stakeholders. The application of this decision model is illustrated by a case study of how IS projects were prioritized at a glass packaging factory. |
