Abstract	The purpose of this paper is to explore the evaluation method for urban land intensive use by using the DPSIR conceptual framework, and analyze the spatial-temporal differences and the influence factors of twelve cities in Hubei Province from 2005 to 2009. The principal component analysis is employed. The empirical study shows that the spatial differences of land intensive use are obvious; the cities with higher degree along the Yangtze River are the accumulation zone of land intensive use, while the degrees of the cities in the northern and southern are low. From the temporal dimension, the intensive levels of all cities are on the rise, but with different changes. The evaluation method of the urban land intensive use based on DPSIR model can reduce the impact of subjectivity, explain the relationship between correlation of the indicators system and the level of land intensive use, and reveal the spatial-temporal differences of land intensive use.
